The province of Esmeraldas in Ecuador is the original source of the exquisite Arriba beans. Due to its varied topography, the country’s climate is marked by great differences in temperature and rainfall. The fine cacao feels very much at home in hot, humid areas and needs plenty of shade as well as rain.

From cacao to chocolate
The Ecuadorian farmers work in harmony with nature. The cacao plants in the region of Esmeraldas grow among trees that are more than 100 years old. Many other plants are grown here in addition to cacao, including lemons, oranges, avocados, maize and bananas.
